- Praise God that on Feb. 18, Olya, Masha, Vika, and Valya all repented and accepted Christ.   February 18 is Vika’s birthday and the exact date last year when Valya came to her new family at Father’s Home.   The beauty of the Lord’s timing is not lost on us.   Our hearts rejoice at these girls’ new life in Him.   Pray that God will continue to strengthen their faith and mold them into the women He wants them to be.

- Also be in prayer for our two oldest kids, Maks Slad and Anya Yanchenko. Maks is graduating from trade school, and Anya is graduating from ninth grade. Both of them have big decisions to make about their future education.  Maks has to decide if he’s going to continue his education at a college or go directly into the work force.   Anya has to decide what specialty she wants to study in trade school.   Both Maks and Anya have a hard time thinking about the future.

-  Maks’ trouble is his naïve assumption that he will find a great job without a higher education and live at home without paying rent.   I asked Anya what he thinks will happen when he wants to get married.  She said that he thinks they’ll both live at home with the whole family.  We laughed, but it was only half in jest.  It’s hard for any 17-year old to have a vision for his future, especially one who has struggled his whole life in school and hates studying.

-  Anya has trouble understanding the correlation between her attitude toward school and her performance.  She has been ingrained with the idea that she will never be a good student so there is no reason to try.  Even when her teachers give her an easier task than her classmates,  Anya is still too overwhelmed to attempt the assignment and receives low grades.   It’s a battle to help her see that even though she’s behind her classmates, she is very bright and can learn new things when she’s willing to try.

-  It was also nice to meet with Alona Lanovuk whose family lives on the first floor. They have had a rough six months with their new son Timur who ran away several times, always brought back by neighbors or the police.   However, the difficulties the Lanovuks have gone through as a family have helped them open up to each other and to our other parents living in the house who have already experienced many of the same problems.  Alona, says God is doing a work in Timur’s heart.  Timur is opening up more and more to her and her husband, Ura.  Pray for strengthening of the relationship between Timur and his parents and that God will continue the healing process in his broken heart.

- The Lanovuks also hope to expand their family this summer by taking in one or two more kids.  Please pray for God to open the door for the children He has chosen to come home to this new family.  Pray also for the current kids, Timur and Olya, who will have to adjust to a major change at home.

- Praise God for the great opportunity for all our families who are attending a conference for adoptive and foster-parents put on by Ukraine Without Orphans, the largest national organization for the promotion and support of orphan care in Ukraine.  Through your support I was able to help all three of our couples pay for the three-day conference in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.  They were all extremely grateful and wanted me to express what a blessing this was for them to have the opportunity to meet other Ukrainians doing the same work with orphans as well as receive support and training.

- We thank you all for your love and care for our kids. You are making an impact in their lives that will last an eternity. Please continue to intercede on our behalf before the throne. God bless. Z Bogom – Rosa <><
